MSX index ends lower

MUSCAT: The MSX index closed at 4,722.93 points, down by 0.31 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.80 per cent at 448.26 points. Muscat Thread Mill, up 9.88 per cent, was the top gainer while Constructi­on Materials, down 9.80 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Global Financial Investment­s were the most active in terms of number of shares traded while Abraj Energy Services were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 931 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating turnover of OMR2.97 million, with more than 19.27 million shares changing hands. Out of 54 traded securities, 12 advanced, 21 declined, and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR635,000 while domestic investors were net buyers for OMR608,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR27,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,705.75 points, down 0.29 per cent. Prices of Global Financial Investment­s, Bank Nizwa were up by 4.29 per cent, 1.02 per cent respective­ly. Prices of Oman & Emirates Investment, Al Madina Investment­s, Ahli Bank, Takaful Oman, Oman United Insurance were down by 5.50 per cent, 3.51 per cent, 1.94 per cent, 1.82 per cent, 1.58 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial Index closed at 5,740.40 points, down 0.71 per cent. Prices of Muscat Thread Mill, Dhofar Cattle Feed, Jazeera Steel Products were up by 9.88 per cent, 4.41 per cent, 1.85 per cent respective­ly.

Prices of Constructi­on Materials, Gulf Mushroom Products, A’Saffa Foods, Oman Cement, National Detergent were down by 9.80 per cent, 4.20 per cent, 3.04 per cent, 2.70 per cent, 2.60 per cent respective­ly.

Services Index was up by 0.01 per cent before closing at 1,853.62 points. Prices of OIFC, Majan College, Ooredoo, Renaissanc­e Services, SMN Power Holding were up by 2.25 per cent, 1.91 per cent, 1.35 per cent, 1.04 per cent, 0.92 per cent respective­ly.

Prices of Al Batinah Power, Sembcorp Salalah, Abraj Energy, Oman Telecom were down by 1.27 per cent, 0.90 per cent, 0.64 per cent, 0.57 per cent respective­ly.
