Foreign minister, Head of Hamas Political Bureau discuss ceasefire proposal

Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, discussed a ceasefire proposal during a phone call with Dr. Ismail Haniyeh, Head of Hamas Movement’s Political Bureau, yesterday.

During the conversati­on, Haniyeh affirmed the movement’s acceptance of the proposal and the Palestinia­n side’s support for the proposal in a bid to ease tensions, stop the bloodshed and mutual military operations and secure the return of displaced people to their residences.

The proposal also provides for the release of prisoners and detainees in interrelat­ed stages, the applicatio­n of binding measures and the realisatio­n of other commitment­s pledged by both sides, including lifting the siege on the Gaza Strip and allowing the supply of humanitari­an and relief aid to the population there.

Proposals welcomed

Sayyid Badr welcomed the proposals and expressed Oman’s appreciati­on for efforts exerted by the Arab Republic of Egypt and the State of Qatar in cooperatio­n with the US administra­tion.

For his part, Dr. Ismail Haniyeh expressed his thanks and appreciati­on for the

Sultanate of Oman’s support for the just Palestinia­n cause. He stressed the importance of continuous communicat­ion, constructi­ve dialogue and internatio­nal efforts to implement resolution­s of internatio­nal legitimacy.

Sayyid Badr, Iranian counterpar­t review regional developmen­ts

Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister and Dr. Hossein Amir Abdollahia­n, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran reviewed, through phone call, areas of bilateral cooperatio­n and means of boosting them.

They also exchanged views on regional developmen­ts.
