Oman, Kuwait have strong historic and cultural ties

The bilateral relation between the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Kuwait is witnessing tangible developmen­t in all spheres, which reflects the deep and strong historic, cultural, political and economic ties between the two countries.

The visit, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, will pay to Kuwait on Monday, and his meeting with Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmed Al Jabir Al Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, translates the deep and strong bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Sultanate of Oman and Kuwait have set an example in handling the regional and internatio­nal causes. In 2003, a joint committee was formed to work on boosting the bilateral relations in the various spheres between the two countries.

A number of agreements and memoranda of understand­ing in the various fields have been signed. The economic relations between the two countries are remarkably developing following execution of joint projects in the Special Economic Zone- Duqm including Duqm Refinery.

The Oman-Kuwait Joint Committee held its latest meeting in

March 2023 , chaired by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister and Sheikh Salim Abdullah Al Jabir Al Sabah , former Foreign Minister of Kuwait with the participat­ion of a number of senior officials in the two countries.

Dr. Saleh bin Amer Al Kharousi, the Sultanate’s ambassador accredited to Kuwait said that the visit of His Majesty the Sultan to Kuwait is of special and remarkable significan­ce in terms of boosting the bilateral relations between the two countries in the various spheres. He also pointed to the continued coordinati­on between the two countries in several regional and internatio­nal causes.

The economic side also enjoys great attention, he said, pointing out that Duqm Refinery was opened under Royal Care from His Majesty the Sultan and Emir of Kuwait , last February , for the value of USD 9 billion, which is the biggest joint Gulf investment.

Dr. Mohammed Nasser Madhi, ambassador of Kuwait accredited to the Sultanate said that the visit His Majesty will pay to Kuwait comes within enhancemen­t of the distinct relations between the leaders of the two countries.
