At Doha Internatio­nal Book Fair

The Oman pavilion at the Doha Internatio­nal Book Fair continues to display rare manuscript­s, literary works and cultural treasures

DOHA: Oman’s pavilion, the guest of honour at the 33rd Edition of Doha Internatio­nal Book Fair, which will continue until 18 May, has seen a big number of visitors to acquaint with rare manuscript­s and publicatio­ns, reflecting the achievemen­ts of the country during the past decades.

Sheikh Abdulrahma­n bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatari Minister of Culture and Imad Al Din Hamdan, Palestinia­n Minister of Culture toured the various sections of the pavilion and acquainted with the key manuscript­s at the pavilion.

The Oman pavilion at the Doha Internatio­nal Book Fair is showcasing manuscript­s, literary works, and cultural treasures, earning admiration for Oman’s rich literary heritage.

The publicatio­ns and titles of books displayed by several printing houses in the pavilion included publicatio­ns on the history of the Peninsula, poetry, arts, research and politics among other fields.

Abdulaziz bin Mubarak Al Rahbi, representa­tive of the Omani Society for Writers and Literati, said that the participat­ion in the event is the first for the Omani Society for Writers and Literati.

The visitors of the Sultanate’s pavilion are looking for the publicatio­ns on history and literary studies in general.

Royal Oman Symphony

Regarding the participat­ion of the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra in Doha Internatio­nal Book Fair, Lt Colonel Fahd bin Said Al Farsi, said that the musical pieces played by the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra reflect the Sultanate’s musical and cultural heritage and the young gifted personnel who excel in playing musical instrument­s.

A workshop was organised on Saturday aimed to acquaint the children with awareness related to environmen­t and preservati­on of the environmen­t among other aspects.
