MSX index ends higher

Raysut Cement, up 2.54 per cent, was the top gainer while DIDIC, down 6.67 per cent, was the top loser

MUSCAT: The MSX index closed at 4,778.53 points, up by 0.18 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.09 per cent at 450.48 points. Raysut Cement, up 2.54 per cent, was the top gainer while DIDIC, down 6.67 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Sohar Internatio­nal Bank were the most active in terms of number of shares traded while Oman Telecom were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 775 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating turnover of OMR2.08 million, with more than 10.73 million shares changing hands. Out of 49 traded securities, 15 advanced, 21 declined, and 13 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR97,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR76,000, followed by domestic investors for OMR21,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,687.98 points, down 0.42 per cent. Prices of Oman United Insurance, ahli bank, Ominvest, Sohar Internatio­nal Bank were up by 2.00 per cent, 1.24 per cent, 1.08 per cent, 0.75 per cent respective­ly. Prices of DIDIC, Oman Arab Bank, Takaful Oman, United Finance, Muscat Finance were down by 6.67 per cent, 3.85 per cent, 3.77 per cent, 3.33 per cent, 2.04 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial Index closed at 5,928.40 points, up 0.03 per cent. Prices of Raysut Cement, Gulf Mushroom Products, Oman Cement, Oman Cables Industry, Al Maha Ceramics were up by 2.54 per cent, 1.81 per cent, 1.37 per cent, 1.24 per cent, 0.61 per cent respective­ly.

Services Index was up by 0.14 per cent before closing at 1,816.40 points.
