Kidsity and bp Oman organise National Robotic Olympics for kids

The programme opens new horizons for students, giving them a dose of creativity and analytical thinking, and sharpening their spirit of perseveran­ce

In partnershi­p with bp Oman and collaborat­ion with the Ministry of Education, Kidsity held the fifth National Robotics Olympics closing ceremony, held under the patronage of Talal bin Nasser

The National Robotics Olympics is a team competitio­n to design and programme the best designed robot using EV3 (evolution 3 Lego) and Spike Prime robotics models to complete the competitio­n tasks and win matches against teams from all 11 governorat­es in

Oman. In this cycle, a total of 459 beneficiar­ies participat­ed in the programme and 24 teams comprising a total of 48 students qualified for the final stage.

The competitio­n started with a qualificat­ion stage which was held for a duration of three weeks, qualifying two teams from each governorat­e to compete in the final stage of the competitio­n. The matches required designing and programmin­g robots to compete in green hydrogen production by operating the hydrogen production unit and then collecting hydrogen atoms and storing them in their designated places.

Saif Al-Manji, co-founder of Kidsity, highlighte­d the importance of the National Robot Olympics competitio­n, saying, “These programmes open new horizons for students, giving them a dose of creativity and analytical thinking, and sharpening their spirit of perseveran­ce. Kidsity actively contribute­s to building a promising future for talented Omani youth, who in turn will play a key role in building a sustainabl­e future for Oman.”

Ibrahim Al Hinai, Social Investment Manager at bp Oman, Kuwait and Qatar, commented, “We believe in inspiring innovation across younger generation­s especially in the field of education. Education is a key pillar of Oman’s 2040 vision which we aim to support and is vital for Oman’s future developmen­t. The national robotic Olympics competitio­n allows students to learn in a creative way, explore their potential in robotics and supports their knowledge in STEM education. Throughout the last five cycles of the National Robotics Olympics we were able to benefit more than 1800 beneficiar­ies.”
