Chairman Water Commission Justice (Retd.) Amir Hani Muslim will be Chief Guest in Closing Ceremony of Diploma Course at MUET Water Center
JAMSHORO: Justice (Retd.) Amir Hani Muslim, Chairman of Supreme Court-mandated Commission on Water and Sanitation of Sindh, will be the Chief Guest in the Closing Ceremony of the Diploma Course in "Flood Forecasting and Flood Hazard Management" due to be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018. Dr. Mohammad Aslam Uqaili, Vice Chancellor MUET , Secretary Sindh Irrigation Department Jamal Mustafa Syed, Dr. Steven J. Burian, Director Utah Water Center, USA, Dr. Bakhshal Lashari, Project Director MUET Water Center, Dr. Rasool Bux Mahar, Deputy Director, Faculty members, and the diploma course participants will attend the ceremony and will share their experiences and importance of the course in preparing and equipping them with modern technologies for managing the flood situations in Sindh. The course included seven training modules for offering 16 credit hour diploma course that was designed by faculty and management of U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W), Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) in collaboration with their counterparts of USPCASW, University of Utah, USA. The diploma course is a collaborative effort of USPCAS-W MUET and Sindh Irrigation Department, Government of Sindh after signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two entities. It included funding support of Rs.41 million for “Capacity Building of Officers/ Officials of Sindh Irrigation Department”. Total 12 officials of the department have completed the diploma course.
