NAB Court sends Shah­baz Sharif to jail on ju­di­cial re­mand

IS­LAM­ABAD: An ac­count­abil­ity court in La­hore has sent Op­po­si­tion Leader in Na­tional Assem­bly Shah­baz Sharif to jail on a ju­di­cial re­mand.

He was pro­duced be­fore court by the Na­tional Ac­count­abil­ity Bureau (NAB) to seek an­other ex­ten­sion of his phys­i­cal re­mand in con­nec­tion with the Ashi­ana Hous­ing Scheme case.

Ac­count­abil­ity judge Syed Na­j­mul Hasan heard the case. NAB prose­cu­tor Waris Ali Jan­jua ap­prised the court of the in­ves­ti­ga­tion's progress and re­quested a fur­ther 15-day ex­ten­sion in Shah­baz Sharif's phys­i­cal re­mand.

He said Shah­baz Sharif has mis­used his pow­ers dur­ing his time as the chief min­is­ter of Pun­jab. The re­quest was turned down by the court.

Mean­while, Po­lice ba­ton charged on PML-N work­ers who gath­ered out­side an ac­count­abil­ity court as party Pres­i­dent Shah­baz Sharif was pro­duced be­fore it in the Ashi­ana Iqbal Hous­ing Scheme case in La­hore on Thurs­day.
