Trans­parency and rule of law top pri­or­i­ties of Govt: Fawad

IS­LAM­ABAD: In­for­ma­tion Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hus­sain has said that var­i­ous ma­jor com­pa­nies of the United States, the United Arab Emi­rates, Saudi Ara­bia and some other coun­tries have ex­pressed keen­ness to in­vest bil­lions of dol­lars in dif­fer­ent sec­tors in Pak­istan.

De­liv­er­ing a lec­ture in Ox­ford Univer­sity in Lon­don on Fri­day, he said the gov­ern­ment un­der the lead­er­ship of Prime Minister Im­ran Khan has fo­cused on re­viv­ing econ­omy.

He said mea­sures are be­ing taken for es­tab­lish­ment of spe­cial eco­nomic zones and in­dus­trial de­vel­op­ment. He said Chi­naPak­istan Eco­nomic Cor­ri­dor is a great eco­nomic pro­ject.

He said the civil and mil­i­tary in­sti­tu­tions are work­ing in com­plete har­mony in the coun­try. He said trans­parency and rule of law are among the top pri­or­i­ties of the PTI gov­ern­ment.

The minister said the gov­ern­ment is com­mit­ted to root out cor­rup­tion and money-laun­der­ing. He said the gov­ern­ment is work­ing to in­crease par­tic­i­pa­tion of the over­seas Pak­ista­nis in eco­nomic and po­lit­i­cal af­fairs of the coun­try.

Chaudhry Fawad Hus­sain said me­dia en­joys com­plete free­dom in Pak­istan, and the gov­ern­ment has also with­drawn cen­sor­ship on the state me­dia. He, how­ever, stressed for reg­u­lat­ing the com­mu­ni­ca­tion chan­nels be­ing used for spreading vi­o­lence and ha­tred.
