PIA de­grees case: SC sum­mons CAA, rel­e­vant depts' heads on Dec 24

IS­LAM­ABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Fri­day has sum­moned to heads of civil avi­a­tion and other rel­e­vant de­part­ments on De­cem­ber 24.

While hear­ing the case, Chief Jus­tice of Pak­istan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar in­quired that why the case is not be­ing re­solved de­spite pas­sage of whole year.

Ear­lier, it was learnt dur­ing the scru­tiny process of ed­u­ca­tional record of Pak­istan In­ter­na­tional Air­lines’ (PIA) em­ploy­ees that 659 in­di­vid­u­als had sub­mit­ted fake de­grees dur­ing the se­lec­tion process.

It was in­formed to lower house of the par­lia­ment by minister of avi­a­tion in the writ­ten re­ply. The minister told House that 391 in­di­vid­u­als have been re­moved, 251 are wait­ing for their cases to be heard while in­ves­ti­ga­tion against 17 are un­der­way. The House was also in­formed that PIA in­flicted a loss of Rs43.65 bil­lion on the na­tional ex­che­quer.
