SHC di­rects IO to en­sure ap­pear­ance in Ar­shad Papu case

KARACHI: Sindh High Court ( SHC) on Fri­day di­rected the In­ves­ti­ga­tion Of­fi­cer (IO) of Ar­shad Papu mur­der case to en­sure his ap­pear­ance be­fore the court on next hear­ing.

A two-mem­ber bench of the SHC heard the bail plea filed by for­mer Sta­tion House Of­fi­cer (SHO) Chand Khan Ni­azi and Lyari gang-war Zakir Dada in Ar­shad Papu mur­der case.

The Rangers of­fi­cials were present but IO did not ap­pear be­fore the court. The bench re­marked that it is giv­ing an­other chance to po­lice though it could is­sue ar­rest war­rant.

The court, later, ad­journed the hear­ing till the 16th De­cem­ber.

For­mer Mem­ber of Na­tional Assem­bly (MNA) Shah Ja­han Baloch, Uzair Baloch and oth­ers had been chargesheeted in the case. For­mer SHO Chand Khan Ni­azi was ar­rested by Rangers in mur­der case.

Ranger’s coun­sel had told the court that the ter­ror­ists of Lyari gang-war with the help of some po­lice­men had killed Ar­shad Papu and his body was burned with acid.
