SC di­rects to fi­nal­ize rec­om­men­da­tions on con­sti­tu­tional rights of GB’s peo­ple

IS­LAM­ABAD: The Supreme Court has con­sti­tuted a spe­cial com­mit­tee to fi­nal­ize rec­om­men­da­tions on ex­tend­ing con­sti­tu­tional rights to the peo­ple of Gil­git-Baltistan.

A seven-mem­ber bench of the apex court headed by Chief Jus­tice of Pak­istan Mian Saqib Nisar passed the or­der while hear­ing a case about pro­vid­ing con­sti­tu­tional rights to the peo­ple of Gil­gitBaltistan here on Fri­day.

The com­mit­tee headed by At­tor­ney Gen­eral of Pak­istan will com­prise se­nior lawyers Ai­tazaz Ahsan, Sal­man Akram Raja, Javed Ahmed , Afrasiab and Sec­re­tary Min­istry of Kash­mir Af­fairs.

The court di­rected the com­mit­tee to take on board all the stake­hold­ers and sub­mit its rec­om­men­da­tions by Tues­day next. The hear­ing has now been ad­journed till De­cem­ber 24.
