Shaikh Fazal Ahmed, Vice Chairman of All Pakistan Solvent Extractor’s Association, along with other office bearers of the Association held a meeting with S. M. Muneer, Chief Executive, TDAP, to discuss issues faced by exporters in the field. Initially they raised the issue of “Ban on import of Pakistani Rapseed / Canola Meal by China” last February and efforts taken by them to lift the ban. They sought assistance of TDAP to lift the ban because their efforts could not get the desired results.
Chief Executive TDAP immediately contacted. Erfa Iqbal, Pakistan Commercial Counselor in Beijing to take up the matter with the concerned authorities in China. A comprehensive letter along with required documents was emailed to her to avoid any further delay. It is expected that after the ban is lifted, Pakistan’s exports in the sector will increase by US $ 1 Million.
The issues related with GST and FBR was also discussed and S.M. Muneer asked the attendees to give written proposals so that the matter could be taken with the authorities in the FBR. He termed the existing political crisis detrimental to the economy of Pakistan in general and exports of Pakistan in particular.
