Kyrgyzstan plans to improve airport infrastructure and restore domestic flights

-

“Within the framework of the National Development Program, airport infrastructures will be improved in Kyrgyzstan and domestic flights be restored across the country until 2026,” President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov said on Saturday, his press service reported. Speaking at the ceremony of laying of a capsule for the construction of a new terminal of Karakol International Airport during his working trip to Issyk-Kul region the president stressed that every day more and more tourists, having heard about the beautiful Kyrgyzstan want to visit the country.

“We have many natural attractions for tourists. Nevertheless, it is indisputable that among the seven regions, it is our lake that tourists do not stop visiting in summer and winter. And the place where we meet tourists from the airspace for recreation in Issyk-Kul, the pearl of our country, and show Kyrgyz hospitality are airports in the region that have international status. Therefore, it is no coincidence that international airports are called the main air gates of the country. For this reason, the comprehensive development and support of international airports is one of the priorities of the state.

As part of the National Development Program of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2026, I decided to improve the infrastructure of airports. The program includes Issyk-Kul, Karakol, Naryn, Osh, Jalal-Abad and Batken airports. God willing, domestic flights across the country will be restored, as well as all airports. Airports in Kazarman, Talas and others will be launched. These expenses will be covered by the net profit received from the Manas airport. Last year, thanks to the fact that corruption was eliminated there, this year the net profit amounted to 4 billion soms. Previously, net profit was about 2 billion soms. Now our citizens will be able to quickly and comfortably get from one region to another. In accordance with the tradition of our ancestors, who have always welcomed guests with open arms, we must all work together to develop the tourism industry. I am convinced that if we bring this industry to world standards and integrate it with our hospitality traditions, this will make a significant contribution to the development of the country,” said Sadyr Zhaparov.

He emphasized that earlier Issyk-Kul International Airport in Tamchy worked only in summer, and now it is open all year round. Therefore, in order to increase the number of flights and passengers at the airport and create comfortable conditions for them, the start of work on the construction of a new airport building and the reconstruction of airfield elements is being launched today.

Sadyr Zhaparov recalled that the Karakol airport was founded on January 1, 1971, when the city was still called Przhevalsk. The asphalt runway of the airport was put into operation in 1978. Since then, major repairs have not been carried out here.

“If we build a new airport complex at Karakol Airport and reconstruct the elements of the airfield, then the flow of tourists will increase not only in summer, but also in winter. Upon completion of the airport, we will have a new apron with a capacity of 250 passengers per hour, as well as a 2400-meter runway with a capacity of Embraer 190 and other similar aircraft. -
