Five dacoits killed in ‘police encounters’ in Punjab and Sindh cities

PAKPATTAN, (NNI): As many as five dacoits were killed in police encounters in different cities of Punjab and Sindh.

Two dacoits killed in police encounter at Pakpattan

Two dacoits were killed while their accomplice managed to flee allegedly in a police encounter in the jurisdicti­on of Malika Hans police station at Pakpattan.

Police said a constable was injured in firing by the dacoits and was shifted to DHQ Hospital.

Giving details, the police said that some suspected persons sitting on two bikes opened fire at the cops when they signalled them to stop for checking.

A heavy police contingent reached the site of the incident and the hunt for the third dacoit was launched.

A dacoit was killed when he was hit by a bullet fired by his accomplice­s allegedly in a police encounter near Pindi bypass in Gujranwala.

The deceased had killed a man named Zakarya in front of his wife when he resisted the robbery bid a few days ago.

As per the police’s version, cops were taking Abu Bakr, a suspect, in a van for recovery when they came under fire from his four accomplice­s who were mounted on a bike.

Consequent­ly, the police added, the suspect was killed in firing by his own accomplice­s who managed to flee from the spot, taking advantage of the darkness.

The Force further said that a heavy police contingent soon reached the site of the incident and launched hunt for the dacoit’s accomplice­s.

Ashraf Billa, a notorious dacoit, was killed when he fell prey to a bullet by his own accomplice­s allegedly in a police encounter at Kot Bahadur in the jurisdicti­on of Saddar police station, Kabirwala.

According to the police, Billa was wanted in connection with a number of dacoities.

Police said that soon after learning about the incident, DSP Circle Kabirwala Syed Ijaz Hussain Bukhari, accompanie­d by a large police contingent, reached the site of the encounter.
