Opposition in Punjab Assembly fumes after Imran Khan labelled ‘a traitor’

-

LAHORE, (NNI): A strong protest by the opposition’s PTI members forced the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly to expunge the remarks of a treasury member against detained Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan during the budget debate session on Friday.

Opposition benches flew into rage when outspoken female treasury member Rushda Lodhi chanted slogans against the detained PTI founder by calling him "a traitor".

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) legislator on reserved seat for women Rushda Lodhi twisted the popular slogan of the opposition--"Qaidi Number 804"--with some words having meaning of a 'Ghaddar' (traitor).

The opposition stood on the benches and started hue and cry against these remarks and demanded the speaker to remove an anti-Imran Khan slogan and should take action against the treasury member.

The speaker took the action on the opposition's demand.
