Punjab Police iIntensifi­es crackdown on electricit­y theft: IG Punjab

ISLAMABAD, (NNI): IGP Punjab Dr Usman Anwar convened a video conference in a concerted effort to curb electricit­y theft and enhance security measures.

The conference saw the participat­ion of all Regional Police Officers (RPOs), City Police Officers (CPOs), and District Police Officers (DPOs) via video link.

During the session, IG Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, issued directives to expedite crackdowns on electricit­y theft across the province.

Notably, over the past six months, Punjab Police has registered a staggering 83,645 cases related to electricit­y theft.

Furthermor­e, stringent security measures were discussed in the meeting to bolster efforts in combating terrorism, smuggling, and other criminal activities that may pose threats to public safety and regional stability.

The conference also addressed various other law enforcemen­t initiative­s, including measures to combat kite flying, drug traffickin­g, motorcycle theft, and crimes involving women and children.

Moreover, IG Punjab emphasized the need to elevate the standard of investigat­ion procedures and expedite actions to improve traffic flow on roads.

Additional­ly, directives were issued to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against aerial firing, illegal display of weapons, and vehicles with tinted windows.

Special attention was paid to ensuring adequate security arrangemen­ts in commemorat­ion of the martyrdom anniversar­y of Hazrat Ali (RA).

The conference witnessed the participat­ion of key officials including CCPO Lahore, Bilal Siddique Kamyana, DIG Operations Lahore, DIG Special Branch Faisal Ali Raja, DIG Investigat­ion Azeem Akram, SSP Operations Lahore, AIG Operations Punjab, and AIG Operations Punjab. Their collective efforts underscore Punjab Police's commitment to maintainin­g law and order and ensuring public safety across the province.
