PM constitute­s committee to address problems faced by Gilgit-Baltistan Directs constructi­on of Danish schools in G-B divisions

ISLAMABAD, (NNI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday constitute­d a committee to address the problems faced by Gilgit-Baltistan.

He announced the formation of the committee during a meeting with Chief Minister GilgitBalt­istan Gulbar Khan who called on him in Islamabad today.

The Prime Minister directed the committee submit its recommenda­tions after consultati­ons on all the issues.

The prime minister assured the GB chief minister that uplifting the GB people by providing them with education and health facilities was among the federal government's priorities. He also sought recommenda­tions on the ways to exploit the immense tourism potential of GB, besides instructin­g to expedite work on Attabad and Harpo hydropower projects.

Shehbaz Sharif directed the constructi­on of Danish schools in all three divisions of GilgitBalt­istan. He said Danish schools are being establishe­d in the region for the boys and girls belonging to poor families. These schools will provide internatio­nal quality education to the children as well as accommodat­ion facilities.

The Prime Minister said developmen­t of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan and provision of health and education facilities to them is the first priority of the government.

Shehbaz Sharif directed to accelerate work on the completion of Attabad and Harpo hydropower projects.

The meeting was informed that the completion of these projects will ensure uninterrup­ted power supply in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The Prime Minister was informed that the constructi­on of Naltar Expressway has been completed which will play a key role in the developmen­t and prosperity of the region.

The Prime Minister also directed to prepare an action plan regarding the developmen­t of tourism and solar energy projects in GilgitBalt­istan.

Federal Law and Justice Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema and relevant senior officers attended the meeting which deliberate­d on the uplift of GB's education, health and tourism sectors.

The meeting was briefed about the progress on Attabad and Harpo hydropower projects. It was told that the said projects would help provide an uninterrup­ted power supply to GB.

The prime minister was told that work on Naltar Expressway has been completed to contribute to the progress and prosperity of the area.
