Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim takes oath as acting PHC CJ

PESHAWAR, (NNI): Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim has taken oath as acting chief justice of Peshawar High Court at a ceremony in the provincial capital on Monday.

Senior PHC judge Justice Ijaz Anwar administer­ed the oath to Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim.

Justice Ibrahim was appointed as acting PHC CJ days before PHC Chief Justice Ibrahim Khan retired on April 14.

It may be mentioned here that Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim led the fivejudge bench which pronounced the verdict not to allocate special National Assembly seats to PTI-SIC.

Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) will give final approval of Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim as PHC chief justice.

Ishtiaq Ibrahim had also served as president of Peshawar High Bar Associatio­n.

Born to a respectabl­e family of Peshawar on 2nd December 1969. He received his secondary education in the year 1985 from University Public School, Peshawar and Higher Secondary School Certificat­e from Government College, Peshawar in the year 1987. He passed Bachelor of Arts from Government College, Peshawar in the year 1989 and LLB from Khyber Law College, Peshawar in the year 1992.

During his profession­al career, he was enrolled as an Advocate of the Lower Courts on 18.05.1993. He was enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court on 11.03.1995 and was enrolled as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on 26.09.2008.

Activities at Bar: Remained as Assistant

Court

Advocate General, KPK from 1999 to 2000; Remained as Special Prosecutor NAB from 2001 to 2002; and Remained as Additional Advocate General, KPK from 2008 to 2010.

Membership­s: He was elected as Joint Secretary Peshawar High Court Bar Associatio­n for the year 19981999; Elected as General Secretary Peshawar High Court Bar Associatio­n for the year 2007-2008; Elected as President Peshawar High Court Bar Associatio­n for the year 20132014

Judicial Career: He was elevated to the Bench as Additional Judge on 11th August 2016; One Year extension was granted on 25.7.2017 by the SJC of Pakistan; and Confirm as Permanent Judge of the Peshawar High Court on 01.06.2018.
