PTI seeks permission to hold rally at Lahore's Shalimar Chowk
LAHORE, (NNI): Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Monday submitted an application to the deputy commissioner Lahore, seeking permission for the public gathering at the city's Shalimar Chowk on April 19.
Mian Shahzad Farooq, who was a PTI-backed independent candidate from NA-119, Lahore in the general elections held on February 8, submitted the application.
Later speaking to the media, Farooq said that the PTI's rally at the Shalimar Chowk on April 19 would be a historic one. "Senior party leaders will address the gathering," he said.
The PTI leader expressed the hope that the party would again win the seat it had won on February 8 in the by-election to be held in a Lahore constituency on April 21. "We will defeat those who were declared winners on Form-47," Farooq said while referring to the election results that were announced on February 9, a day after the general elections, and in which the PML-N candidates were declared elected.
High-level Saudi delegation led by FM Faisal bin Farhan arrives in Pakistan
ISLAMABAD, Apr 15 (NNI): Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan arrived in Pakistan Monday on a two-day visit aimed at enhancing bilateral economic cooperation.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has welcomed the highlevel Saudi delegation at Noor Khan Airbase.
The visit takes place essentially to expedite follow up on the understanding reached between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and HRH Mohammad bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during their recent meeting in Makkah Al Mukarramah to enhance bilateral economic cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Upon his arrival at the Noor Khan air base in the garrison town of Rawalpindi, the Saudi foreign minister, who is leading a highlevel delegation comprising several top ministers, was accorded a red-carpet welcome by Pakistani officials.
"A week after Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif's visit to Saudi Arabia (April 6-8), a high-level delegation of Saudi Arabia is coming to Pakistan," the Pakistani information ministry said in a statement shared with journalists.
"The Saudi delegation will consult on the next stages of investment and implementation issues," the statement added, saying Saudi Arabia's planned investment in the Reko Diq gold and copper mining project would also be discussed during the visit.
The delegation consists of Saudi Minister of Water and Agriculture Eng Abdul Rahman Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadley, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, Deputy Minister of Investment Badr AlBadr, Head of Saudi Special Committee Mohammad Mazyed Al Towaijri, and senior officials from Ministry of Energy and Saudi Fund for General Investments.
Earlier, media reported that Saudi Arabia was likely to invest $1 billion in the mine project in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, one of the world's largest underdeveloped coppergold areas.
Riyadh was also interested in investing in agriculture, trade, energy, minerals, IT, transport and other sectors in Pakistan, the statement said.
