Parliament’s resolutions are no joke: nisar

- ISLAMABAD ONLINE

Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that the government’s decision to restore NATO supplies without accepting even a single term of the parliamentary resolution on the issue is a “sheer insult” to Pakistan.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Nisar said the decision had exposed the incapability and ineffectiveness of the incumbent government once again. “Pakistan’s secu- rity and foreign policy has undoubtedly raised many eyebrows and Pakistan has virtually become a joke in the entire world,” he said, adding that the tall claims of the government had gone in vain as the independence and supremacy of the parliament could not be seen anywhere in the country. He asked if the rulers had to bow before the US, then why they stopped the supply in the first place.

He said the U-turn taken by the government on the issue had destroyed the sovereignty of the parliament and the integrity of the country. He said the tenure of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government was reminiscent of the regime of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, who “had also sold out the country”.

He said the apology tendered by the US was not sufficient to bring back over 38,000 innocent lives lost in drone attacks and other similar raids. He added that the US president had personally apologised to Afghanistan several times, but things had not changed even slightly in this regard.
