Uncle slaughters two sisters

A man slaughtere­d two of his nieces with a knife and injured the third in Baghbanpur­a on Wednesday, a City 42 reported. Waseem, a resident of Dhobi Ghat, escaped the scene after committing the crime. The father of the girls got an FIR registered against him after which Waseem was arrested and sent to the Shalamar Police Station. Provincial Minister for Law, Parliament­ary Affairs and Local Government Rana Sanaullah Khan has said that Punjab government has completed all arrangemen­ts for meeting possible affects and threats of dengue and the training process of the staff of local government, health and other department­s has been completed.

He was addressing a keys distributi­on ceremony of dengue brigade vehicles among the TMOs of various districts in Town Hall, here today. Parliament­ary Secretary Local Government Abdur Razzaq Dhilon, Secretary Local Government Board Rizwan Sharif, Managing Director Punjab Municipal Developmen­t Company Muhammad Aamir Nazir, Special Secretary Local Government Dr Saqib Aziz, Commission­er Lahore Jawad Rafique and Tehsil Municipal Officers of various districts as well as officers of local government were also present on the occasion.

Sanaullah expressed the hope that Punjab gov- ernment will also control dengue virus with the cooperatio­n of the people this time. He said that last year no one was aware of the nature of the dengue. He said that dynamic leadership of the chief minister, government officials and the participat­ion of every segment of the society became a rock wall against the virus of dengue.

Earlier, Local Government Secretary Rizwan Sharif informed the minister about the steps taken for the eradicatio­n of possible outbreak of dengue in the rain season. He informed that due to steps of the Punjab government, dengue brigade vehicles are being distribute­d among the TMOs of 31 districts of Punjab through Punjab Municipal Developmen­t Fund Company for the first time in the history of the country.

He said the training had been imparted to the staff for operating these vehicles from the Management and Profession­al Developmen­t Department. He further said that 520 shoulder foggers and 1600 spray pumps have been distribute­d among the above mentioned districts. Later, Rana Sanaullah distribute­d keys of dengue brigade vehicles among the TMOs.
