2 civilians killed in Indian firing at Working Boundary: ISPR

BSF MAN KILLED AS PAKISTAN RANGERS RESPOND

RAWALPINDI : Two people, including a one-year-old baby, were killed and seven others injured when Indian forces resorted to unprovoked firing across the Working Boundary, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Monday.

“Due to unprovoked Indian firing at the Working Boundary last night, a civilian Muhammad Latif of Janglora village and a minor Haniya embraced shahadat while seven civilians were injured,” the ISPR said in a statement.

It said that the Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) responded “befittingly” to Indian firing and shelling in Harpal, Pukhlian and Charwah sectors on the Working Boundary. Intermittent exchange of fire continued through the night, the statement said.

The injured civilians were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital, Sialkot. In its last statement on Sunday night, the ISPR said Indian Border Security Force (BSF) troops opened fire in the Chuprar and Harpal sectors. Also, the Foreign Office, in a statement, said Indian troops targeted civilians in violation of the ceasefire agreement. FO Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said that heating up of the Working Boundary and Line of Control (LoC) by India was endangering peace in the region.

Meanwhile, Indian media reported that a Border Security Force (BSF) soldier died and another was injured in the trade of fire with Pakistan Rangers on Sunday night in RS Pura sector of the Working Boundary.
