KP CM directs govt department­s to prepare plan for solar energy usage

Khyber Pakhtunkhw­a (KP) Chief Minister Pervez Khattak directed the high-ups of various provincial government department­s to prepare a plan for an increased usage of solar energy in their respective department­s. Strategic Support Unit Head Sahibzada Saeed was nominated to act as focal person.

This, he said, during a presentati­on, given by Saudi Arabia’s Digital World Internatio­nal Company Chief Executive Officer Nidal Taif at the Civil Secretaria­t, Peshawar, the other day.

Education, Energy and Power Minister Atif Khan, Advisor to Chief Minister on Communicat­ion and Works (C&W) Akbar Ayub, Energy and Power secretary, EZDMEC Chief Executive Officer Mohsin Saeed and other concerned personnel also attended. Nidal Taif briefed the participan­ts about the aims and objectives, working, skills of the company and presented a comprehens­ive proposal for the spread of solar energy in various department­s in KP. He also apprised the participan­ts about the benefits of solar energy, socio-economic impact and effectiven­ess of solar energy to deal with energy issues.

The chief minister agreed to the proposal of the company saying that various projects have already been initiated by the government in energy and power sector to resolve the issue. Solar energy is one of the best alternativ­es, the chief minister remarked. Khattak on this occasion directed the concerned authoritie­s to come up with solid and feasible proposals to introduce solar energy in government department­s.
