Javed Sadiq is Shehbaz’s ‘frontman’, alleges Imran Khan

SAYS SADIQ MADE HUGE COMMISSION IN DIFFERENT PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN BY PML-N GOVT

- HAMID KHAN WAZIR

PAKISTAN Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday alleged that a Canadian national Javed Sadiq was Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s frontman, who, he said, had hitherto minted Rs 15 billion in commission in four different projects. As the November 2 Islamabad lockdown is coming closer, the war of accusations and counter-accusations between PTI and the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are intensifying with each passing day.

Talking to media outside his residence here at Bani Gala after a consultative meeting of PTI, Imran Khan came down hard on CM Punjab and accused him that Javed Sadiq, a Canadian businessman of Pakistani origin, has been acting as frontman for him and made billions of rupees in commission.

PTI chairman alleged that Javed Sadiq so far received Rs 15 billion as commission and consultancy charges in four provincial projects, and is due to get another Rs 26 billion.

The four projects included: a Rs 25 billion New Islamabad Airport project, Rs 5 billion Software Technology Park (Arifa Kareem Towers), Rs 150 billion Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Bahawalpur and Rs 300 billion Multan-Sukkur CPEC motorway section project.

He said that huge commission has been received in the above-mentioned four projects, adding that only a few millions would be given to Javed, while the rest would be gone into Shehbaz Sharif’s pocket, as he is his frontman and takes money for him.

The PTI chief waved a sheaf of papers, which allegedly contained contract and consultancy details, which was later shared with the media too.

He also released pictures of Sadiq, vowing to reveal a new scandal before his November 2 protest in the federal capital. He alleged that the businessman made huge commission in different projects undertaken by the PML-N government. Imran Khan has repeatedly demanded a response to accusations of corruption levelled against Nawaz and his family in the wake of Panama Papers, which he maintains are “proof of corruption”, not allegations.

“Our rulers think corruption is legal and protest is illegal,” Imran Khan said, adding that peaceful protest is legal and a constitutional right of every citizen.

Khan said that IMF chief had warned that no investment would flow into Pakistan until corruption is eliminated. Khan said people were highlighting Sharif brothers’ corruption as his party’s planned lockdown of the capital was approaching, adding “I will expose more such incidences in the coming days so as to expose the corrupt mafia before the nation.”

Khan went on to say that Shehbaz Sharif kept on saying that he will quit politics if a corruption of a penny was proved against him.

Earlier, while addressing the lawyers, the PTI chief said that November 2 march against Nawaz Sharif’s ‘corruption eleven’ will decide whether there will be democracy or monarchy will continue.

“Pakistan was supposed to be a model country for the whole world, but look at the state we are in today,” Khan said. He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly recently passed a resolution for an investigation into Panama Leaks, but the PML-N members opposed it. The PTI chief reiterated that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leaving no stone unturned to have Pakistan declared a terrorist state, but Nawaz sharif has no guts to even speak up against him as he maligns the Pakistan Army across the world.

He said the November 2 protest was not a struggle of a single party rather it was a struggle of the whole Pakistan, adding that whenever he gave a call for protest, a hue and cry was raised that there was a threat to democracy.

The PTI chief said that without free and fair elections, independent and across the board accountability, there would be no democracy.

Speaking to media, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah rejected the allegations and said Javed Sadiq worked for a Chinese company, and he had nothing to do with matters other than his own company.

Imran dubs Khursheed Shah as ‘double Shah’: Imran Khan dubbed Opposition Leader Syed Khursheed Shah as “double Shah”, saying that siding with a criminal was also a criminal act. He said that Shah should be ashamed for defending a criminal, as Nawaz Sharif has cases in NAB.

On the other hand, PTI decided that party chief Imran Khan would not seek bail in the PTV Headquarters attack case. PTI Spokesman Naeemul Haq said that if Imran Khan was arrested, there would be a severe reaction. He criticised the government saying that declaring the most popular leader of the country as a terrorist was madness.
