Petitioner seeks justice over ‘Police Brutality’

-

A citizen named Nooshaba Usman filed a petition in Islamabad High Court (IHC) and alleged that policemen entered her house and searched it for three hours without a search warrant. The women alleged that police in uniform and in plain clothes entered her house along with a lady police, under the supervision of SHO of Police Station Koral Shoukat Abbasi. The petitioner maintained that the police officers detained the members of the house, including minors, at gunpoint for several hours, and snatched their mobile phones and locked them in a room. She said that policemen forcibly took a DVR recorder with them. The petitioner has taken the position that the alleged police assault was at the behest of Standing Committee on Home Affairs Chairman Khurram Nawaz over a business dispute with her husband. The petitioner urged an inquiry into the incident and action against those responsible.
