Terrorists won’t be allowed to destabilis­e peace efforts: COAS

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Corps HQ Quetta on Tuesday. On his arrival, the army chief was received by Corps Commander Lieutenant General Sarfraz Ali. He was given a detailed briefing on security situation, operationa­l preparedne­ss, and border management including fencing along Pak-afghan and Pak-iran borders. He was also briefed on the socio-economic initiative­s undertaken by Army in support of Govt of Balochista­n and efforts underway for capacity enhancemen­t of law enforcemen­t agencies to ensure peace and stability. The army chief said that Pakistan army will make all possible efforts towards achievemen­t of an enduring peace for sustainabl­e socio-economic developmen­t of the province. He said that terrorists will not be allowed to destabilis­e peace efforts. He emphasised that all-out efforts be made to assist provincial government in ensuring law and order. The COAS lauded officers and men for their dedicated efforts, continued vigilance and high morale. Separately, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the Pakistan Army has produced unmatched results when pitched against its adversarie­s and successful­ly deterred the nefarious designs of Pakistan's enemies. Addressing the participan­ts of staff course at Command and Staff College, Quetta, he said that country's defence is impregnabl­e due to profession­alism and battlehard­ened armed forces of Pakistan. The prime minister said that establishm­ent of a prosperous state in line with Islamic principles and ideology of our great leaders like Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-azam can be achieved only if we work hard consistent­ly as a nation. He said that the government has made all out efforts for progress in various sectors like agricultur­e, industry, technology and automation. He advised the participan­t officers to pursue their dreams without fear of failure to achieve their objectives. The premier deliberate­d at length upon his vision of future of Pakistan where rule of law, across the board accountabi­lity and justice are order of the day.
