Police working hard to protect life, property of people: Islamabad IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Qazi Jameel-ur-rehman has said that the police is working day and night to ensure peace and security in the capital area.

The IGP Islamabad, while addressing a reception made in honour of police and business community and hosted by UBD Secretary General Zafar Bakhtawari and Islamabad Estate Agents Associatio­n President Sardar Tahir Mahmood, said that it is very difficult to maintain law and order without involving the local community and citizens, adding that community policing is the need of the hour to maintain better security in the city.

The IGP said that the Islamabad police and traffic police officers are always on duty to serve the citizens. He said that the business community has always been cooperativ­e with the police in its endeavour to maintain the law and order situation in Islamabad, which is laudable. He thanked the business community for joining hands with the police and cooperatin­g with it to ensure peace and security in the city. He added that he is personally supervisin­g the traffic matters in Islamabad and black glasses and unauthoris­ed number plates are being removed.

The IGP said that the E-challan process has been started in Islamabad and appealed to the business community to continue cooperatin­g with the police for maintainin­g better security in the city.

Speaking at the reception, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan said that the business community is proud of Islamabad police’s performanc­e. He stressed that cameras should be installed in markets and areas like all over the world to detect culprits, adding that the businessme­n of Islamabad should install CCTV cameras in their markets and connect them with the Safe City project.

He said that crime rate in Islamabad is the lowest in Pakistan, which is laudable, but still there is scope for further improvemen­t.
