PM assures Provision of basic facilities to KP residents

■ ANNOUNCES RS2BN DEVELOPMENT GRANT FOR BISHAM

- staff report

PRIME Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Saturday that the government would work hard to transform Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) into a developed province and provide all the basic facilities, which had been taken out of the reach of the poor people by the Pakistan Tehreek-iinsaf (PTI) government.

How many hospitals and health facilities the PTI’S provincial government had constructed and provided free of cost treatment and medicines to the poor people during its rule?” questioned the prime minister while addressing a huge rally at Bisham.

Criticising the PTI’S government, he said the price hike had reached to a historic peak in the last four years with huge debt hovering around Rs24,000 billion.

“due to their corruption and incompetency, the previous rulers even did not put a single brick to the stalled projects. The BRT was delayed causing billion of rupees losses,” he said, adding the former rulers only unveiled plaques of the projects launched by the Pml-n government.

He said during the Pml-n rule in Punjab province, the orphans, widows and hopeless were provided with free-of-cost treatment and now the same facilities have been restarted after gap of four years. The medicines are being provided irrespective of the class differences, he added.

The prime minister also assured similar provision of health facilities in KP as well. He went on to say that if Punjab develops alone then it is not development of Pakistan.

RS2 BILLION GRANT FOR BISHAM: He announced a development grant of Rs2 billion for Bisham tehsil to resolve civic and municipal issues related to water and road maintenance.

He also announced a medical college for the area.

He said that among other measures, he would make efforts to ensure the completion of the Puran grid station in three months and expedite work on the Bisham-khwazakhela expressway.

He said Punjab would be reducing wheat prices and appealed to KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan to do so as well. He added that if the chief minister does not reduce the prices, then he would himself “give money for cheaper wheat”.

The price of wheat in KP and Punjab would be brought at par over the next few days, he added.

He also appealed to the KP chief minister to make medicines and treatment for poor people free in hospitals, otherwise, Shehbaz said he would address the issue himself and ensure the free provision of health facilities.

He said that if he is given the opportunity then he would ensure free health services in all hospitals of the country.

“People of KP, it is my promise to you that I will rest only after solving your basic issues,” he assured.
