Foreign ministry launches portal to enhance communicat­ion with missions

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-zardari inaugurate­d the “Share Pakistan Portal”, a digital platform aimed at fostering improved communicat­ion between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and over 100 diplomatic missions worldwide.

The portal, developed in collaborat­ion with the National Informatio­n Technology Board (NITB), serves as a standardis­ed online informatio­n system to collect and convey the impact of public diplomacy initiative­s aligned with Pakistan’s foreign policy objectives.

Speaking at the launch event, Bilawal highlighte­d the “Foreign Minister’s Change Management Initiative”, which aims to enhance the ministry’s effectiven­ess through comprehens­ive management reforms.

Teams comprising experts from the foreign ministry and diplomatic missions contribute­d to brainstorm­ing and formulatin­g reforms in areas such as human resources, finance, logistics, communicat­ion, counselor services, protocol, and community services.

These reforms seek to digitalise and simplify rules, policies, and procedures, fostering a culture focused on results, productivi­ty, value innovation, and decentrali­sed decision-making. Bhutto-zardari emphasised that the “Change Management Initiative” will transform the diplomatic service, equipping it to respond to the challenges of the modern world. The initiative aims to establish seamless communicat­ion channels between the ministry and diplomatic missions abroad.

The newly launched portal facilitate­s streamline­d communicat­ion and informatio­n sharing horizontal­ly and vertically within the domain of public diplomacy, enabling efficient and transparen­t implementa­tion of various initiative­s. It marks a significan­t milestone in integratin­g digital technologi­es into public diplomacy strategic outreach efforts and institutio­nal practices.

The portal will aid diplomacy in decision support, drafting strategic communicat­ion, translatin­g foreign policy, and analysing emerging trends.

Bhutto-zardari expressed confidence that the portal would serve as a model for future projects, enabling effective communicat­ion between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its missions. He expressed gratitude to the NITB and the Ministry of Informatio­n Technology for their partnershi­p in developing the portal, enhancing the visibility of public diplomacy activities and achieving foreign policy goals. The foreign minister extended congratula­tions to the Spokespers­on’s Office and the Strategic Communicat­ions team for the successful launch of the portal. The event saw the participat­ion of high commission­ers and ambassador­s through video-link, emphasisin­g the global reach and significan­ce of the initiative.
