Omar claims politicians leaving PTI under overwhelming pressure

Former MP Omar Ayub Khan, in an interview with a TV channel, has made claims about the mounting pressure faced by politicians who are leaving the Pakistan Tehreek-i-insaf (PTI).

According to Khan, while PTI workers remain loyal to the party’s ideology, those who are departing are doing so under significant duress. He further highlighted that former prime minister Imran Khan has discouraged any criticism of these departing members. Several politicians and PTI leaders have decided to leave the party due to what they describe as “compulsion and pressure.” When asked about the timing of future elections in the country, Khan acknowledged the need for elections but stated that the exact schedule remains uncertain. He urged fellow political workers not to lose hope, emphasizing that the prevailing economic situation will likely result in a rejection of leaders from the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) during the upcoming general elections. Expressing his support for Chairman Imran Khan’s decision to dissolve the provincial assemblies, Khan argued that this move was necessary to ensure fair and timely elections in the country. He asserted that PTI’S decision to dissolve the assemblies was the correct course of action. Regarding PTI’S aspirations to return to the National Assembly, Khan expressed concern over the government’s alleged ill intentions. He predicted that the government would create obstacles to prevent PTI’S successful re-entry into the assembly. In a strong statement, Khan criticised the arrest of Imran Khan within the court premises, deeming it a blatant violation of the constitution and the law. He called for the resignation of the interior minister, interior secretary, and chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), or their public apology to the nation.
