Rapidly be­com­ing known as the hall­mark for suc­cess amongst the film and mu­sic fra­ter­nity of the sub­con­ti­nent, the Masala Awards 2015 had all the glitz and glam­our that usu­ally ac­com­pa­nies events of such grandeur. Held on Novem­ber 5 in Dubai, the Ma

sala Awards was a star-stud­ded event with many ac­tors, ac­tresses and mu­si­cians in at­ten­dance. Pak­istan was yet again pushed into the lime­light, thank­fully for all the right rea­sons as Mahira Khan and Farhan Saeed man­aged to bag awards for their re­spec­tive cat­e­gories and add yet an­other tro­phy to their al­ready crowded man­tle.

Roye, Mahira Khan took the op­por­tu­nity to ded­i­cate her achieve­ment to Pak­istani cin­ema as well as high­light the jour­ney she un­der­took to come to the present stage. “In my own small way, I am rep­re­sent­ing Pak­istani cin­ema to­day on an in­ter­na­tional plat­form. It feels amaz­ing. From the time that we started till now, we’ve gone miles ahead,” she said proudly.

Farhan Saeed bagged the award for the ‘ Most Promis­ing Singer’ and, to the de­light of all his fans, even crooned some of his most fa­mous hits such as Halka Halka Suroor, Main Tainu Samjhawan Ki and Wo Lamhay. Other artistes in at­ten­dance in­cluded Farhan Saeed’s bet­ter half Urwa Ho­cane and Sanam Saeed of Talkhiyaan along with de­signer Faraz Man­nan.

Many mem­bers of the In­dian film fra­ter­nity were also at the event, some of them even win­ning awards. Th­ese in­cluded Jacqueline Fer­nan­dez, who won the Masala Award for ‘Style Icon’ and Varun Dhawan, who won the award for ‘Best Ac­tor’ for his act­ing skills in Bad


At­tended by over 1,000 peo­ple and cur­rently in its sev­enth year run­ning, the

Masala Awards has aimed to bring the Asian com­mu­nity to­gether on one plat­form and high­lights their achieve­ments and con­tri­bu­tions to en­ter­tain­ment and film. The UAE, known as the hub of lux­ury and glam­our, has long served as the award cer­e­mony’s base.
