Mo­bile Man­u­fac­tur­ing

South Korea‘s Sam­sung Elec­tron­ics has opened the world’s largest mo­bile phone as­sem­bling plant in In­dia. Lo­cated in the in­dus­trial city of Noida in Ut­tar Pradesh, the fac­tory is an ex­pan­sion of the ex­ist­ing plant that will help Sam­sung dou­ble its an­nual pro­duc­tion ca­pac­ity from 67 mil­lion phones to 120 mil­lion. The $700 mil­lion plant will pro­vide over 1,000 more lo­cal jobs and will help cater to In­dia’s boom­ing smart­phone mar­ket which grew by 14 per­cent last year with 124 mil­lion units shipped to the coun­try. China’s Oppo Elec­tron­ics Cor­po­ra­tion is also es­tab­lish­ing a $320 mil­lion man­u­fac­tur­ing unit in Noida.
