Saplings to be planted dur­ing Spring drive: Amin

ISLAMABAD: Min­istry of Cli­mate Change has chalked out a plan to plant over 142000069 saplings dur­ing the up­com­ing tree plan­ta­tion cam­paign sched­ule to be­gin by the end of next month.

This has been stated by Ad­vi­sor to Prime Min­is­ter on Cli­mate Change Ma­lik Ameen As­lam while pre­sid­ing over an in­ter­provin­cial meet­ing re­gard­ing 2019 spring Tree Plan­ta­tion Cam­paign in Islamabad on Tues­day.

The Ad­vi­sor di­rected to choose a day in the last week of Fe­bru­ary for the cam­paign to be launched by the Prime Min­is­ter Im­ran Khan.

The Ad­vi­sor said the min­istry hopes to plant some five mil­lion trees on the very first day of the drive.

The meet­ing re­viewed the tar­get of pre­vi­ous year and cur­rent year for the tree plan­ta­tion across the coun­try.

The meet­ing was briefed that 21.26 mil­lion plants were sowed dur­ing last year in Pun­jab, while 21.69 mil­lion in Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa, 11 mil­lion in Sindh and 0.36 in Balochis­tan. - NNI
