Agriculture markets being interlinked in Punjab
All 146 agricultural markets in the province are being interlinked to facilitate the farmers, says Punjab Agriculture Minister Syed Hussain Jahania Gardezi. Inaugurating Jaranwala vegetable market, the minister said that all the agricultural markets in the province are being interlinked, while farmer platforms are being established there so that the growers could sell their produce there.
So far, more than 100 new markets have been established under the Public Private Partnership as the record of market fee collection was being maintained through the application "Mandi App" for reducing the role of middlemen. New fruit and vegetable markets are being set up preferably in the vicinity of villages so that farmers do not have to face difficulty in selling their produce, he said.
He said market fee schedules, commission and daily rates are being displayed at conspicuous places in the model markets. President Dr Arif Alvi approved the appointment of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl's (JUI-F) Haji Ghulam Ali as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor.
According to a statement from the President's Office, Alvi accorded his approval based on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's advice in accordance with Article 101 (1) of the Constitution. The approval of the premier's summary comes the same day it was dispatched to the head of the state. In contrast, a similar summary for the appointment of the Punjab governor in May this year had taken nearly four weeks for the president to ratify.
