Agritechnica Asia to bolster mechanization in the region

-

THE ASIA EDITION of Agritechnica, the world’s largest trade fair for agricultural machinery and equipment in Germany, will be launched on March 15-17, 2017, at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center (BITEC), Thailand. The first edition of Agritechnica Asia will be in conjunction with VIV Asia, the largest livestock exhibition in Asia. The co-location will further accelerate the inaugural edition of Agritechnica Asia, leveraging synergies between animal and crop production.

Agritechnica Asia will focus on agricultural machinery for top produced crops in Asia such as rice, sugarcane, cassava, corn, root crops, palm oil, and wheat. It will showcase more than 221 exhibitors from Asia and Europe and welcome 8,000 trade visitors who are dedicated to finding solutions for the region.

Quality buyers, top investors, distributors, dealers, decision makers, and top executives from high profile companies will visit the trade fair. In addition to the conference program, technology professionals in agriculture and international experts will lead master classes to share knowledge and know-how for farmers.

At Agritechnica Asia, the emphasis will be on agricultural engineering solutions that are both relevant and important to the development of agriculture in the Asian markets. Mechanization through modern machinery will increase significantly in the next decade mainly due to the growing labor shortages, more competition and therefore the need to reduce production costs.

“In addition to the strong growth currently in individual Southeast Asian countries, this developing region as a whole will be further boosted by the ASEAN grouping by further regional integration in economic cooperation, food trade development and agri-interventions for sustainable food production,” said Dr. Achim Schaffner, DLG’s head of Agricultural Economics. DLG is the German Agricultural Society. Thailand is considered a hub for the machinery trade, which is why Bangkok was chosen as the venue for Agritechnica Asia.

Big companies are joining the launch of Agritechnica Asia, including Lovol of China, which considers the event as an excellent platform for showcasing its brand, products, technology, and services to customers around the world.

Another big supporter is Pottinger Landtechnik GmbH, Austria. Heinz Pottinger, managing director, said: “We consider Asia-Pacific as one of our key growth regions. The steep rise in dairy consumption is leading to an upswing in mechanization of grassland management to which Pottinger, as a grassland specialist, can make a valuable contribution. We also see a great need for investment in arable farming. Pottinger has the right solutions for both small-scale farming structures and large farms.

To ensure an impressive launch of Agritechnica Asia, the organizers decided to offer an international hosted buyer program for the top 200 agricultural decision makers in Asia-Pacific.

DLG International and VNU Exhibitions Asia Pacific are jointly undertaking the event.
