PROJECT: CULTIVATE TOMATO

-

YOU CAN PLANT TOMATOES from ones bought from the market. Cut the tomato in the middle and take out the seeds. Tomato seeds are covered with a jelly coating that protects them. If you plant them right away, they will take time to germinate and will prolong the growth of the seeds. Hence, before planting the seeds, dry them for at least two days. There are different techniques to remove the seed coverings. Some dry them by exposing them to the sun and others dry them using an electric fan or by fresh air.

After drying, water your soil and scatter the seeds above it. Others submerge the seeds one inch deep into the soil but for Tan, if you sow the seeds and cover it with soil, the tendency is that the seeds will have a hard time pushing through the soil to grow. After sowed, water the seeds to keep them moist.

Put a screen made of mosquito netting over your plants to prevent birds or chickens from pecking at the seeds. Make sure to keep the soil and seed moist.
