SH INDUSTRY KOREA: ADVANCED LEADER IN AGRICULTURAL DRYING

-

In the Philippines, more than 700 units of SH Recirculating Dryers with dual function for rice and corn has been installed nationwide, to great customer satisfaction.

Many farmers, cooperatives, rice traders, millers, as well as LGUs prefer SH Dryers for their high quality yet low price. Clients appreciate the short installation time of only 1-2 days, among the fastest in the industry.

After installation, operators are trained to optimize the performance of the dryer in terms of drying rate, fuel consumption and reducing broken grains. Once installation and training has been completed, customers have come to know SH Dryers for the fastest and most affordable after-sales service, both during and after the one-year warranty period.

The history of SH Dryers starts in 1974, when Mr. Hosoo Kim, a farming instructor, first introduced tobacco curing barns to the labor-intensive Korean tobacco industry. Since then, Shin Heung Industry Co. has further developed the drying technology to include automatic curing of tobacco, recirculating grain dryers with temperature and moisture control, and tray dryers for a variety of agricultural products.

In recent years Shin Heung developed, aside from fossil fuels as an energy source, biomass furnaces that supply indirect heat to the dryers for clean agricultural products that can run on rice hull, corn cobs, wood chips or coconut husks. The very efficient consumption of these biomasses assists farmers to significantly lower drying cost and contribute to a better environment.

With a history of almost 50 years and 55 patents, Shin Heung now produces entire post-harvest machinery, from individual dryers to automatic curing barns to entire drying, storage, and milling plants while achieving a 68% domestic market share in South Korea and exporting to countries like Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, and even to Africa and the Middle East.

Today, with a dedicated manufacturing plant of almost two hectares equipped with computerized machining center, robot guided welding system, state-of-the-art powder coating facility and stock yard for raw materials and finished products, Shin Heung can produce several thousand units of consistent quality dryers annually and commit to on-time delivery and installation worldwide.

In the Philippines, Bio-chem Technology Philippines Corporation has been appointed as the authorized importer and national distributor of SH Dryers since 2016. Bio-chem has set-up and is setting up After-sales Service Centers throughout the country. Its technicians and mechanics are constantly trained by visiting experts from Shin Heung to perfect installation and conduct immediate and efficient after sales service, being just a phone call away. Moreover, Bio-chem and its service centers are equipped with critical tools and maintain a stock of essential spare parts to support a short response time within the day and assist customers to be back in business soonest.

Bio-chem is accredited by Namdac and has tested the various capacity drying models, powder coated or stainless steel, using diesel burner and/or biomass furnace, with test reports from Amtec of UP Los Banos to consistently confirm a drying rate of more than 0.8% per hour, broken grains of less than 3% and lowest comparative fuel consumption. Hence, Bio-chem now counts both private and government entities as its satisfied clients.

Shin Heung and Bio-chem are jointly committed to further invest in the research and Development of agricultural dryers and other post-harvest technologies applicable to Philippine conditions in service of the farmers and its customer base.

Together, they are looking into white coconut meat drying, tobacco curing, improved storage, and adaptation of solar energy to name but a few, while fostering cooperation and partnerships with Philippine entities in these respective fields.
