A three-year-old mar­cot of Palamuti bignay is prov­ing to be pro­lific at the Sarian Farm in Teresa, Rizal. It is still a small tree but is al­ready pro­duc­tive.

Palamuti is a se­lec­tion by the In­sti­tute of Plant Breed­ing at UP Los Baños many years back. It is a va­ri­ety that in fruit most parts of the year. Fruit­ing comes in suc­ces­sion.

The berries are nice to eat as fresh fruit once they turn black. They have a pleas­ant sweet­ish-sour taste, loaded with an­tiox­i­dants and vi­ta­mins. The fruits are also good for mak­ing wine.
