First Philippine Hamster Fair & Fourth Anniversary of PHOS
The Philippine Hamster Owners Society (PHOS) recently held the First Philippine Hamster Fair at Starmall, EDSA Shaw. The hamster festival showcased the various breeds and the skills of the amazing little creature. Breeds exhibited included the Syrian, Campbell dwarf, Winter White or Siberian, Roborovski, and Chinese dwarf.
Visitors--many of whom were families celebrating Father’s Day--learned that the hamster is not just a pet one places in an enclosure and feeds; they can be affectionate enough to be played with and cuddled--and they can even be raced! There were hamsters eating worms bred for that purpose--a surprise for many. They also got to see hamster shows, judged by administrators and hamster fancy experts Gabay Forlales, Jay Rojo, Charles Guzman, and Emman Talucod.
Those interested in starting the hamster hobby or who wanted to improve their knowledge of it enjoyed talks from experts in the industry on how to take care of their pets, and got to ask their questions as well. In addition to hamsters, visitors also got to appreciate exhibits by other pet groups, including Exotic Feeders Philippines, Philippine Association of Goldfish Enthusiasts, Stungun Flowerhorn, Stungun Betta, Live Fish Bait, Guppy Club Philippines, and Rebirth – House of Exotic Feeders, which shared the basics of caring for bearded dragons.
The event gathered various hamster groups from across the country and individual breeders, including the Camanava Hamster Organization, Bulacan Hamster Owners Society, Isabela Hamster Owners Society, Terry Hamhams, Zyrian Hamstery, and Juander Pet Store. It was also a celebration of PHOS’ fourth anniversary.
