In De­cem­ber, we gave you a short list of in­ver­te­brates whose ex­is­tence con­tin­ues to be threat­ened as cli­mate change af­fects An­tar­tica. In this is­sue, we con­tinue rais­ing aware­ness about these beau­ti­ful crit­ters to re­mind us of our role in sav­ing an­i­mal lives.

For the most part, Antarc­tic in­ver­te­brates don’t look nor­mal, hav­ing de­vel­oped some ex­treme phys­i­cal char­ac­ter­is­tics to sur­vive in such a place. Here are a few more of the spe­cial an­i­mals that can beat the Antarc­tic cold.
