Visto said that the theme of the event encouraged a lot of people to participate and express their enthusiasm to sign up themselves and their dogs for the search-and-rescue training.
“Yung dog naming si Digo (Our dog, Digo), [we trained him for] two years, not knowing (that) one day he will save a person doon sa (in) Baguio,” shared Visto.
The story that Visto talked about happened two weeks after a landslide struck Itogon, Benguet, where eight handlers and four dogs from UPMV K9 Corps helped with the searchand-rescue operation.
“We’re training different dogs – with breed or wala (with or without pedigree),” said Visto. “Pati ‘yung handlers required magtraining ng search and rescue operations at kung ano pang kailangan. (Even the handlers are required to undergo training for search-and rescue-operations and anything else that might be needed.)”
Several brands supported the event, including Ezydog, Pedigree, Whiskas, and Bosch.
