Visto said that the theme of the event en­cour­aged a lot of peo­ple to par­tic­i­pate and ex­press their en­thu­si­asm to sign up them­selves and their dogs for the search-and-res­cue train­ing.

“Yung dog nam­ing si Digo (Our dog, Digo), [we trained him for] two years, not know­ing (that) one day he will save a per­son doon sa (in) Baguio,” shared Visto.

The story that Visto talked about hap­pened two weeks af­ter a land­slide struck Ito­gon, Benguet, where eight han­dlers and four dogs from UPMV K9 Corps helped with the searc­hand-res­cue op­er­a­tion.

“We’re train­ing dif­fer­ent dogs – with breed or wala (with or with­out pedi­gree),” said Visto. “Pati ‘yung han­dlers re­quired mag­train­ing ng search and res­cue op­er­a­tions at kung ano pang kailan­gan. (Even the han­dlers are re­quired to un­dergo train­ing for search-and res­cue-op­er­a­tions and any­thing else that might be needed.)”

Sev­eral brands sup­ported the event, in­clud­ing Ezy­dog, Pedi­gree, Whiskas, and Bosch.
