Luzon Rabbit and Cavy Show
Rabbit and cavy parents from Laguna, Batangas, Cavite, Bulacan, and different parts of Metro Manila made their way to Robinsons Tagaytay, where bunnies and guinea pigs took centerstage at the 2nd Luzon Rabbit and Cavy Show.
Kids 13 years old and below did not miss out on the fun as they made friends and took pictures with their favorite fluffy animals, and joined the youth poster-making contest with the theme “Easter”.
This was the first leg of threepart local show set out for rabbit and cavy enthusiasts this year by Philippine Lapine Club, Inc (PLCI).
ONE BIG FAMILY
Cavies, or guinea pigs, made the event two times cuter as they joined the fun. Pinoy Guinea Pig Lovers (GPL), a group of cavy enthusiasts, joined the PLCI family as one of its three divisions.
“The first GPL Cavy Show as a PLCI division was a blast! There is nothing better than a sight of seeing beautiful cavies and rabbits all over the entire venue. It was worth all the effort and time!” said Josel Lakas, GPL president. “We can do more as a bigger family!”
RISING STARS
No one could argue that Lionhead, Holland Lop, Lion-lop, and New Zealand are the more popular breeds showing up in the past couple of years. Rising stars starting to make their name in the local scene include the Flemish Giant, Netherland Dwarf, and English Angora.
Remarkably, some cavy breeds – Cuy, American Crested, and Abyssinian – made their debut appearance during the show. American, Texel, Peruvian, and Silky cavies joined them to complete the show.
THE ROOKIE
Lyca Eugenio, a new rabbit parent of two, attended the show as part of the audience. She said the event made it possible for her to meet various fluffy animals in person, because she only used to see them in pictures on the web!
Rabbit and cavy shows were new to her. Her getting the gist of how each pet was judged according to American Rabbit Breeders’ Association’s Standard of Perfection was a cherry on top.
