WHAT MAKES A GOOD PET SITTER?

-

Entrusting your fur kids to other people can be daunting, which is why it requires careful thought and planning. It’s important to determine what qualities to look for in a pet sitter before hiring one.

According to JV, pet sitters need to be trustworthy, dependable, calm, patient, and flexible with different animal behaviors. “If possible, try to find [someone] who comes highly recommended by people whose opinions you trust,” he says.

Local animal welfare groups can be a good source for finding pet sitters – pet parents can be assured that their fur kids will be in good hands with animal advocates as they have only the best interests of the animals in mind.

“Another requirement I have for my sitters is that they must be at least 20 years old. People of this age usually have a couple of years of work or experience, which add to their common sense and maturity. Moreover, clients seem to have [greater] peace of mind [if it’s] an adult looking after their pets and home,” he adds.

As we work toward a perfect world where we can bring our fur kids with us anywhere we go, it’s best to identify for now which pet care service is perfect for you and your fur baby. Knowing the pros and cons of each pet care service would be helpful. Ultimately, whatever pet care service you decide to go with, always remember to practice good judgment and only give your business to reputable individuals or companies who will make your fur kids their top priority.
