Internet speed sa bansa, susukatin simula Setyembre

Sa layuning matugunan ang problema sa mabagal na Internet connection, sisimulan ng National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) ang pagsusukat sa actual Internet speed na iniaalok ng mga service provider sa bansa at ikukumpara ito sa kanilang ipinapatatalastas na velocity sa susunod na buwan.

Sa pagdinig sa Senate committee on trade, commerce and entrepreneurship na pinamumunuan ni Senator Paolo “Bam” Aquino IV, sinabi ni NTC Director Edgardo Cabarios na ito ay pagtalima sa huling memorandum circular ng Commission.

Sinabi ni Cabarios na magsisimula ang ahensiya sa Metro Manila at magsasagawa ng pilot test sa ikalawang linggo ng Setyembre.

“We will start the official test on October. The location will not be announced during the testings,” tiniyak ni Cabarios sa komite.

Aniya, ang mga konsumidor ay maaaring maghain ng reklamo sa false advertising laban sa mga service provider kung ang official speed test results ay hindi tumugma sa ipinapatalastas na bilis.

“The NTC shall perform the measurement and the measurement tool will be downloadable so that the consumers can perform the measurements themselves,” aniya.

Bibigyan ang mga telecommunication company (telco) ng pagkakataon na silipin ang speed test results. Gayundin ang mga consumer ay maaaring komprontahin ang service provider kung ang kanilang impormasyon ay hindi tugma sa advertised speed, at maghain ng reklamo.

Ang mga reklamo laban sa mga Internet service provider dahil sa false advertising ay mapapasailalim sa consumer advertising regulations ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
