Araw ng Pagkakaisa, lalarga laban kay Cojuangco

MALALAKING pangalan sa Philippine sports, sa pangunguna nina dating Senador at swimming ‘Godmother’ Nikkie Coseteng at multi-titled swimmer at dating Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Eric Buhain ang magtitipon-tipon ngayon para samahan ang mga atleta, coaches at sports supporters sa gaganaping kilos-protesta laban sa liderato ni Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Jose ‘Peping’ Cojuangco.

Tinaguriang ‘Sports Forum: Kilos sa Pagbabago, gaganapin ang programa ganap na 9:00 ng umaga hanggang 12 ng tanghali sa Rizal Memorial Coliseum sa Vito Cruz, Manila.

Lumakas ang panawagan para sa pagbibitiw ni Cojuangco sa POC bunsod nang patuloy na pagbagsak ng kalidad ng sports sa bansa, sa kabila nang milyonmilyong pondo na nakukuha sa PSC. Batay sa record na inilabas ni PSC Commissioner Ramon Fernandez, umabot sa P129 milyon ang nakuha ng POC sa pamahalaan.

Sa katatapos na 29th Southeast Asian Games sa Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, tumapos lamang ang Pilipinas sa ikaanim na puwesto sa napagwagihang 24 gintong medalya – mas maliit sa 29 na napanalunan sa Singapore SEAG edition noong 2015. Mula 2007, nabigo ang atletang Pinoy na makapasok sa Top 3 sa SEA Games.

“In the observance of the National Day of Protest, we are joining the Filipino athletes, coaches and deprived sports leaders on their quest for justice and fairness,” pahayag ni convenor Edgardo ‘Tito Boy’ Cantada, pangulo ng Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF).

“Unlike the overstaying Jose Cojuangco and his gang in the Philippine Olympic Committee, we are giving them a chance to answer all the charges and grievances against them. But their track records have shown they are incapable of doing so, proof that they’ve don’t care about right and wrong. Cojuangco and his gang exist not for the Philippine sports nor the POC but for themselves. We are retaking the pride, justice and commitment they’ve stolen from the Filipino athletes,”

Inaasahan ding makikiisa sa programa sina PSC Commissioner Ramon ‘El Presidente’ Fernandez at gymnastics head Cynthia Carrion. Inimbitaha naman ng grupo sina Senators Richard Gordon, Bongbong Marcos at JV Ejercito, gayundin si sportsman-actor Derek Ramsey. Kumpirmado ring darating sina dating PSC chairman Aparicio Mequi at VACC president Dante Jimenez.
