Andreja Pejic, unang transgender woman na naging Ford model

ni Andreja Pejic ang pagiging kauna-unahang transgender woman na lumagda sa Ford Models.
Isinilang sa dating Yugoslavia at lumaki sa Australia, ang androgynous model ay pumasok sa fashion industry nang irampa ang Jean Paul Gaultier’s menswear at womens wear shows noong 2011. Nakumpleto ng 26 na taong gulang na transgender ang kanyang transition sa pagiging babae noong 2013, at ipinagpatuloy ang karera hanggang sa maging kauna-unahang transgender woman na napabilang sa prestihiyosong agency.
“I am more than delighted to announce that I will be joining forces with the legendary @fordmodels agency,” aniya sa kanyang post sa Instagram nitong Lunes. “@chrimichael ( Christopher Michael) is the kind of agent any girl in showbiz would die to have. I’m grateful that I can say I’m surrounded by a team that truly values what I bring to the table. I guess it’s the number one rule of business in this businesses but it’s not always the easiest one to achieve (sic). Excited for the future!”
Sa kanyang karera, rumampa na siya sa runway para sa Prabal Gurung, Marc Jacobs at John Galliano, at naging kauna-unahang transgender model na nakapasok sa major beauty campaign noong 2015 nang siya ang hiranging mukha ng Make Up For Ever.
Sabik si Pejic na simulan ang bagong yugto ng kanyang karera sa gabay ng ng New York-based Ford Models, Magtatandaan na umamin siya bilang transgender noong 2013, at binitawan ng kanyang agency.
“On a personal level, three years ago, I was dropped by a modelling agency after I came out publicly as transgender,” lahad niya sa Forbes kamakailan. “It feels good to go from not even knowing if I would have a future in the modelling business to joining forces with one of the biggest names in the industry, and following in the footsteps of Christie Brinkley,
Jerry Hall, Alek Wek - the list goes on and on.”
