Traffic lalala pa sa 2018—MMDA

Ngayon pa lamang ay nagbabala na ang gobyerno na mananatili ang problema sa trapiko sa 2018 dahil sa maraming nakalinyang infrastructure projects para mapabuti ang transportation network sa Metro Manila, sinabi ng isang mataas na opisyal ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Umapela si Tim Orbos, MMDA general manager, sa mga motorista at pasahero na pagpasensiyahan ang inaasahang siksikang trapiko sa sabay-sabay na pagsisimula ng infrastructure projects sa ilalim ng programang “Build, Build, Build” sa susunod na taon.

Kabilang sa mga nakalinyang proyekto sa 2018, ani Orbos, ay ang Metro Rail Transit- Light Rail Transit common station sa second quarter; LRT line 2 extension project sa Marcos Highway at LRT Line 1 extension patungong Cavite; unang subway sa Metro Manila sa third quarter; Megawide Southwest Terminal, South Terminal, MRT 7, mga tulay na itatayo ng Department of Public Works and Highways; rehabilitasyon ng Guadalupe Bridge, at marami pang iba.

“Some of these projects are long overdue. The plan is to complete them before the end of the Duterte administration. For us to have better infrastructure, we need to go through heavy traffic which will start next year. We have to keep our patience up. Just remember, things will get better after,” ani Orbos, concurrent Department of Transportation (DoTr) undersecretary for roads and transport network.

Sinabi ni Orbos na makakaasa ang publiko ng mas coordinated efforts ng tatlong ahensiya, kabilang ang MMDA, DPWH, DOTR, Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group, Bases Conversion and Development Authority, upang maibsan ang siksikang trapiko na idudulot ng mga construction project na ito.

Kabilang sa mga ikinokonsidera nilang solusyon ang carpooling at flexi-time sa trabaho. “One is carpooling; other is private sector should come in to help us in the implementation of flexitime schedule for employees, and delivering commerce in evening,” ani Orbos.
