300 e-jeepney aarangkada sa Metro Manila sa Hunyo

TINATAYANG 300 modernong electricity- powered jeepney ang magsisimulang bumiyahe sa darating na Hunyo, ayon sa Department of Transportation ( DoTr).

Inilabas ng DoTr ang pahayag matapos ianunsiyo ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque nitong Huwebes na bibiyahe na ang paunang grupo ng e- jeepney sa ilang lugar sa Metro Manila, bilang bahagi ng Public Utility Vehicle ( PUV) Modernization Program ng DoTr.

Sinabi ng DoTr na layunin ng PUV Modernization Program na masiguro ang isang ligtas, magaan at makakalikasang sistema ng transportasyon para sa mga biyahero.

“We are pleased to announce that as part of the Department of Transportations’ Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program, the first batch of modern electronic jeepneys will be rolled out in June,” pahayag Roque.

Kabilang sa mga ruta ng e- jeepney ang Quezon City Hall, sa kahabaan ng Elliptical Road, sa Diliman, patungong Manila City Hall; Cultural Center of the Philippines, Philippine International Convention Center sa Pasay, patungong Southwest Intermodal Transport exchange sa Parañaque City; Fort Bonifacio Gate 3 sa Taguig City, patungong Guadalupe Market sa Makati; at Bagumbayan sa Taguig, patungong Pasig City.

“They will not be rolled out for public use without a valid franchise,” sabi ni DOTr Public Information Office Director Godess Hope Libiran nang tanungin kung nagbigay ng prangkisa ang Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board ( LTFRB) sa mga modernong jeep.

Papalitan ng PUVMP ang mga jeep na 15 taon nang ginagamit na may Euro 4 na makina o electrically- powered engines na may solar panels para sa bubong nito.

Ang mga modernong PUV ay kakabitan ng mga closed- circuit television cameras o cctv, GPS navigation system, Automatic Fare Collection System, speed limiters, dashboard cameras, at Wi- Fi.
