Dam project sa Quezon, inalmahan

Tinututulan ng Simbahang Katoliko ang pagpapatayo ng isang dam sa Quezon dahil maaapektuhan umano nito ang pamumuhay ng mga katutubo sa lugar.

Inirason ni Infanta, Quezon Bishop Bernardino Cortez, na lilikha lang ng maraming problema ang konstruksyon ng Kaliwa Dam, isa sa mga sa 75 flagship infrastructure project ng administrasyong Duterte, na gagastusan ng P18.7 bilyon.

“Kaliwa Dam to be constructed over the Infanta Fault will be a ‘sword hanging over the head’ of 100,000 people living downstream the Kaliwa River. This project, which is connected with the Laiban Dam has been in the pipeline for 30 years, yet until now it does not even have the necessary Environment Compliance Certificate (ECC),” pagdidiin pa nito.

Iminungkahi rin nito sa pamahalaan na humanap na lamang muna ng alternatibong pagkukunan ng tubig, katulad ng pagsasailalim sa rehabilitasyon ng PasigLaguna River Basin na gagastusan lamang ng P13 bilyon.
